EGSC: Non-Traditional Careers for Engineers

Online Event

Columbia Engineering emphasizes, beyond just technical depth, an education that is holistic and interdisciplinary. From class requirements to research focuses, we have always believed that Columbia engineers can and will impact the world in diverse ways, applying their knowledge and training in roles that expand on the definition of what it means to be an engineer.

Especially in these circumstances, amid the pandemic and widespread changes to traditional work, we know that many Columbians are keeping an open mind about the industries they want to work in, where they would work, the types of roles they find interesting, and more broadly the career path they see down the line. There are no wrong answers for a Columbia engineer but it can certainly be intimidating to take the less-traveled path.

To alleviate some of these concerns, we are very excited to host a group of talented SEAS alumni for a discussion on how they approached their nontraditional career paths. If you are interested at all in the myriad possible careers after graduating SEAS, we welcome you to join us for the conversation where you’ll have the opportunity to hear from our alums, ask them questions directly, and learn about how you might expand your own career scope.
