The Earth Institute Sunday Song and Story Swap - Music of this Sphere AGU Edition Every Sunday, the Earth Institute's Sustain What webcast shifts from explorin tough issues of sustainability, resilience and communication impact to featuring songwriters, artists, poets and the like in a song and story swap aimed at boosting energy and community bonds for the work ahead. On Sunday December 13th, from 10:30 a.m. through 12:30 ET, the session will honor and feature scientists and scholars from the earth sciences and related disciplines -- particularly those gathered virtually for the American Geophysical Union's first online annual conference. Raymond Pierrhumbert, the Halley Professor of Physics at Oxford, will be joining with his accordion and ukulele. Nathan Farrell, a Columbia senior majoring in sustainable development, has played and sung, as has Julio Friedmann of the Columbia Center on Global Energy Policy. The show has featured many other scientists, including hammered dulcimer virtuoso and gaciologist Karen Alley and her father Richard Alley, an early probeer of Greenland's ice sheets. Musical or poetic or otherwise arts-focused members of the Earth Institute and AGU communities can sign up to perform by contacting host Andrew Revkin: [email protected].
